IES / ESE Cut-off Marks - (2014-2023)

Every year, UPSC conducts the IES exam and declares the cut off for candidates who are shortlisted for UPSC IES/ESE exams. The national level IES/ESE examination is conducted in 3 stages: Stage-I, Stage-II, and Stage-III; Out of these 4 papers, 2 are of objective type and 2 are of subjective type.

The cut off for each stage of the IES exam is released separately in PDF format. After the declaration of IES results, the conducting body releases a merit list online. Candidates qualifying the Prelims Cut off can then appear for IES Mains and, after qualifying for mains, go for a personality test [Interview].

Minimum qualifying marks Cut-Off s Marks Calculation for UPSC IES/ESE Exam

Stage-1 (Preliminary): The Engineering Services (Preliminary/Stage-I) Examination Cut off marks out of 500—including only objective paper marks. Subject to candidates (General, OBC, SC, and ST) having secured a minimum of 15% marks and PH candidates a minimum of 10% marks in each of the two objective papers.

Stage-2 (Main): The Engineering Services Main/Stage-II Examination Cut off marks out of 1000—including objective paper and also conventional paper marks. Subject to candidates (General, OBC, SC & ST) having secured a minimum of 20% marks and PH candidates a minimum of 10% marks in each of the two conventional papers.

Stage 3 (Personality Test Interview): The 3rd stage is conducted after the personality test. Candidates who attain minimum marks in objective plus subjective papers i.e., marks out of 1100 only those candidates would be called for personal interview.
