GATE 2024 is a popular exam for engineering students in India. It gives you a chance to study in top Indian institutes and opens doors to great career opportunities. The official notification for GATE 2024 will come out in July 2023 on the website gate.iisc.ac.in. In September, you can register online for the exam if you meet the eligibility criteria. The exam will take place in February 2024 and will be conducted online. It will cover 29 different subjects. What is GATE EXAM?

The GATE exam is a national-level test held in India for students who want to pursue postgraduate programs in engineering. It is conducted by IISc Bangalore and seven IITs on a rotational basis. GATE 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Before starting the application process, candidates must ensure that they meet the educational eligibility criteria for GATE 2024. To be eligible for the GATE 2023 exam, candidates should fulfill one of the following conditions: Currently studying in the 3rd year or higher of any undergraduate degree program, or have already completed any government-approved degree program in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, or Arts.

GATE 2024 Eligibility Criteria for International Students

International students from countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are eligible to appear for GATE 2024. These students must have either completed their bachelor's degree in engineering and technology or be in the final year or pre-final year of their studies.

GATE 2024 Exam Pattern

The GATE 2024 exam will be conducted as a fully Computer Based Test (CBT) with a total of 29 subject papers. The exam pattern will consist of objective-type questions, including Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. Candidates have the option to choose and appear in one or a maximum of two subject papers from the provided combinations. The final allotment of two papers will depend on availability. There is no age limit for appearing in the GATE 2024 examination.

Marking Scheme

Questions carry 1 mark and 2 marks


Negative Marking: For a wrong answer chosen in a MCQ, there will be negative marking. For 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. Likewise, for 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. There is no negative marking for wrong answer(s) to MSQ and NAT question.

GATE 2024 Application Fees

The registration for GATE 2024 will open in August 2023, and interested candidates can apply for the exam through the official website using the GOAPS platform. The application fees for GATE 2024 must be paid online, using methods such as net banking, debit card, credit card, wallet, or other available payment options. GATE 2024 Admit Card

Registered candidates for GATE 2024 will be able to download their admit cards in January. The admit card can be accessed through the official GATE website using the candidate's enrollment ID and password. It is important to carefully check the details on the admit card and contact helpline services in case of any discrepancies. On the day of the exam, candidates must carry their admit card along with a valid photo ID proof. Accepted photo IDs include Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, College ID, Employee ID, Driving License, and for international students, Passport or Government-issued ID. The admit card is essential for entry into the examination hall.

To download the admit card, candidates need to visit the official GATE 2024 website, login using their registration number and password, and click on the provided link to download the admit card in PDF format.


GATE 2024 Answer Key

The GATE answer keys for the year 2024 will be released online on the official website. Initially, the provisional answer key will be published, allowing candidates to raise objections within a specified period by providing supporting evidence. After considering the challenges, the final answer key will be released by IIT Kanpur, the conducting authority. To download the GATE answer key for 2024, candidates need to visit the GATE login website and click on the 'answer key' link. The answer key, along with the corresponding question papers, will be displayed on the screen and can be downloaded in PDF format. The answer key will be available shortly after the GATE 2024 exam. GATE 2024 Result

GATE 2024 Cutoff

Along with the announcement of the GATE 2024 results, the authorities will also publish the subject-wise cutoff scores. Only those candidates who meet the cutoff criteria will be considered qualified. The cutoff scores for GATE 2024 have not been released yet. In the meantime, candidates can refer to the cutoff scores from previous years. The cutoff scores are typically made available shortly after the results are declared.
