Engineering Services (Preliminary/Phase-I) exam will consist of two objective
type (multiple choice) question papers and carry a maximum of 500 marks
(Paper 1 - 200 marks and Paper II - 300 marks).
If you qualify the Preliminary/Phase-I Examination, then you will be eligible
for the Main/Phase-II Examination. The number of candidates appearing in the
Main/Phase-II examination will be approximately six to seven times the total
estimated number of vacancies to be filled through this examination.

Negative Marking: There
will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in
the objective type question papers.
1. There
are four alternative for the answers to every question. For each question for
which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one-third (1/3rd) of the
marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.
2. If a
candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer even
if one of the given answers happen to be correct and there will be same penalty
as above for that question.
3. If a
question is left blank i.e. no answer is given by the candidate, there will be
no penalty for that question.
IES Exam Electrical
Pattern Stage-2: (Main/Phase-2)
Mains Examination has consisted with
two papers (Paper-1 & Paper-2). Only
